Dear SOYBU...

soybu logoDear Soybu,
Not many clothing companies understand how busy life can get. It can be difficult to balance children, work, exercise, and playtime. I have high standards and want to feel confident and comfortable in what I wear. So, when I set out to find a brand that would meet my seemingly unattainable expectations I found you. You, Soybu, understood me and my world. I felt like you got me like no other brand has. You are understanding, and gentle, when I roll out of bed in the morning with my hair all a mess. You never judge me when I don’t feel like wearing makeup. I appreciate the way you treat my body and how you make me feel inside and out. You are the brand I was searching for that is truly made for life, not magazines or runways, but REAL life.

soybu dressThe softness in your touch is so gentle yet you are firm and don’t get all saggy after I wear you all day. Other brands just haven’t been able to handle the heat and the butt droops in the back after wearing them for an hour. Not you! Oh no, you would never let me down. You even were able to stand up to my seven year old that cries with the slightest itchy tag or rough seams. She wears you proudly with the bright colors, fun patterns and I have not heard one small complaint! The clothes are soft and colorful and the comfort level is something I want to live life in.

I haven’t been so comfortable in a dress in years, literally years! I love the Malia Dress Santorini! The prices are reasonable especially on sale this dress was only $38.40! Lululemon needs to move over because this brand is going to take over the market with high quality, environmentally conscious, fun clothing for women, children, and men! I have been looking everywhere for you and there you were right in my back yard, Denver, Colorado!

So, Soybu, thank you for making clothing that doesn’t just fit my workout…they fit my life!   If you are still skeptical and need a second opinion check out another great blog called Mom Does Reviews, the sweet stuff in life. Golden Rule in Life

Dear Society,

You have changed over the years. You aren’t as friendly, your neighborhoods aren’t communities, and you are always in a rush. It feels like you have forgotten that the others you interact with are people too; with their own lives, struggles, successes, and goals. You need to reach back into the old life lessons from childhood. You must remember the classic Golden Rule? Treat others as you would like them to treat you. I know at times it is hard to put yourself in someone else’s place, if you’ve never been in their position. Just be nice and try smiling. It really doesn’t take any extra time or effort and you never know how it could change their day.

You expect children to be kind to one another, why do you not set the same standards for adults? Sadly, some see the kindness of others as an outdated thing, or a sign of weakness. It is actually quite the opposite; you can experience a great since of power and fulfillment with kindness. People of all ages should follow the Golden Rule and think of others. I challenge you to help end the cycle. Starting today try being extra friendly to one random person a day. You may be surprised at how it changes your life in a positive way.

Please tell us about simple ways you follow the Golden Rule in your life in the comments below. Also, if you know someone that you think embodies this rule please nominate them for the Golden Rule Award. Click the link for more information.

We have committed the Golden Rule to memory; let us now commit it to life –Edwin Markham
Wishing you all the best of everything,

5 WAYS TO TEACH CHILDREN KINDNESS

5 Ways to Teach Children Kindness

We need to teach the children in the world today the importance of kindness. Teach them they have the power to make the world a better place with simple Random Acts of Kindness. You never know what someone else is going through and something little could make a huge difference in their day! This is a great way to teach children that it feels good to do for others. It isn’t completely unselfish, you will find it gives you pep in your step. Sometimes it is hard to teach children about this so here are 5 Random Acts of  Kindness that you can do with your children:
  • Ding Dong Ditch – This one is fun for the kids and adults. Make a card (or note) and add a few favorite items then put it on a friend’s, acquaintance’s, neighbor’s, or just a random door step and ding dong ditch (not late at night of course!). The thrill of doing something nice and being sneaky is irresistible for children.
  • Offer Help – If someone drops something have your kiddo pick it up for them. Or is you see someone struggling help them and make sure you tell your child why you did it.
Leave a Random Note or picture – Let them think of someone they love or respect and make them a special note. You can leave it on a car, under a pillow, or in the mail box. We like to leave a note now and then for the mail person.
  • Give – This can be as simple as giving a homeless person a snack. Or have them pick some toys or clothes to donate to children in need. Find a local charity in the area or a church with a child care area who could benefit. This one is a double winner because they learn kindness and to help the less fortunate.
  • Pick up trash – Clean up your street, school yard, or church by picking up trash. Make sure you wear gloves and the children will learn the importance of kindness, community, and not littering.
These random acts of kindness are fun and teach a new level of empathy. Talk to your children about why you are doing it and how the other person must feel as well as how they feel doing it. You can also point out the positive impact they are having on the world and that kindness is contagious. Ask them if they can think of any Random Acts of Kindness they would like to do. Please share their ideas and reactions in the comments ! I can’t wait to hear new ideas and how much they liked these activities.
